Use

The electronic system Food Keeper is intended for use in the kitchens of restaurants and other catering facilities, shops and food exchanges or warehouses for products with short durability. It is a wall mountable indication panel with colour LEDs, comfortable and easy to use buttons, enough space for names and external thermal printer.

The main panel of the Food Keeper system consists of a main-indicator module and multiple sections for products with different shelf life. Each section has space for the product label, button and start entering the number of chef or reset, digital indicator of the number of chefs and three color status indicator expiry date. The three colour indicators have the colours of the traffic lights: Green (the shelf life has not expired), Yellow (there are two hours until the expiry of the shelf life), Red (expired shelf life).

Food Keeper Double

In Food Keeper Double modification of each product can be included for counting 2 servings prepared at different times and different chef.

The product shelf life for both portions of the same product is the same and can be programmed from 02 to 99 hours.

In the main panel contains a major indicator module, and 20 sections for products with two portions.

In a second broad panel contains 24 sections for products with two portions. Expansion board is the same dimensions as the basis. Both boards are mounted on the wall next to one another.

In a third broad panel contains 20 sections for products with two portions.

In the maximum option Food Keeper Double system supports 64 product, each with two servings.

Food Keeper Single

In Food Keeper Single modification for each product on the dashboard is a single line of inscription space, start button, an indicator of the number of chefs and tricolor indicator of the status of the product.

The product shelf life for both portions of the same product is the same and can be programmed from 02 to 99 hours.

In the main panel contains a major indicator module, and 40 sections for the products.

In the second panel is broadly contains 48 sections for products. Expansion board is the same dimensions as the main panel. Mounted on the wall next to one another.

In the maximum option Food Keeper Single system supports 88 product.

External printer, sensor temperature and power adapter is always connected to the main panel.

Food Keeper main indicators

At the bottom part of the Main module, on bright and easy to monitor from the distance digital indicators there is constant view of the temperature in the kitchen (degrees Celsius) and real time (hour:minutes). To the right of the indicators there are buttons for setting the correct time and for mode selection.

External printer, sensor temperature and power adapter is always connected to the main panel.

How it works

Work modes

The system works in three modes: “Operation”, “Time review” and “Setting expiry times”.

The default mode of the panel is “Operation”. In this mode you can see which the portions with started shelf life counting are, what the suitability status of each portion is and the order number of the cook who has prepared it.

In “Time review” mode the indicators of the main module show the time left (hours: minutes) until the expiry of the shelf life for every portion.

In “Setting expiry times” mode you can change the expiry hour (from 01 to 99 hours) of the products.

Cleaning the dashboard has hidden mode “Pause-Clear” with inactive buttons for all products.

Start of shelf life counting

Work with the panel is extremely easy. All you have to do to start the shelf life counting of a product is use only one button – the button for the relevant portion of the product. Every pressing of the button is accompanied by a short sound signal.

The only thing which a cook has to do in order to switch the shelf life counting of a portion is to find on the panel the section with the name of the product and to enter his/ her personal number (from 1 to 19). By means of briefly pressing the button of the portion the cook increases the number on the digital indicator. On a single digit indicator cook number 10 is represented by Dot and Zero (•0), Dot and One (•1) for number 11, etc. up to Dot and Nine (•9) for number 19. When on the indicator appears the needed value the cook releases the button and that is all that has to be done. When the button is not pressed for 3 seconds the system starts reverse counting of the preliminarily programmed shelf life of the current product. The green indicator is on. An external indicator prints on thermal paper a brief note – the product’s label.

Contents of the label:

• order number of the label (dwo-digit number)
• order number of product on the panel (up to 60)
• order number of portion (1 or 2)
• order number of the cook (from 1 to 19)
• name of the cook (up to 22 characters)
• name of the product (up to 24 characters)
• time of starting the portion (hour:minutes, day.month.year)
• calculated moment until the expiry of shelf life (hour:minutes, day.month.year)
• programmed shelf life (hours from 02 to 99)

The green indicator is on until there are 2 hours left until the end of the shelf life. The yellow indicator is on during the following two hours and after that the red one, showing that the shelf life has expired, is on.

At any moment when the green or the yellow indicator is on, in case the kitchen needs more of this product, another cook (or the same one) can prepare a second portion and start the panel for counting its shelf life.

Serves 1 and 2 of the product 5 with the inscription "stewed onions", prepared by chefs with appropriate numbers 4 and 5, when the duration of the implementation and not in the last two hours - bright green.

Portion 1 of 4 with a product labeled "marinated ribs", prepared by Chef with the number 12, now expire the last two hours Duration - bright yellow.

Portion 2 of 4 with a product labeled "marinated ribs", prepared by Chef with the number 8 has expired realization - bright red.

Product 26 labeled "processed cheese wafers", prepared by Chef with the number 5, has expired realization - bright red.

Product 25 labeled "mushroom cut", prepared by chef with the number 19, now expire the last two hours Duration - bright yellow.

If the red indicator of a portion is on, this means that the shelf life has expired and the available quantity in this portion has to be destroyed and the information on the panel has to be reset. Resetting is performed by pressing and keeping for 2-3 seconds the button of the portion. This will lead to switching the indicators off, resetting the order number of the cook and expelling the portion from the shelf life counting system.

Change of menu with products

The panel is programmed by means of USB interface by preliminarily entering the names of the products, the shelf life and the names of the cooks in an Excel file. The entering of a new menu in the panel takes one minute. The names of the products can be entered by text in Cyrillic fonts. The products can be placed and grouped by the cooks, as they find it more convenient for easier and faster work with the panel. After reprogramming of the panel, new labels with the names of the products are printed and glued on the assigned places of every section.

The information about the products (name and shelf life) is not lost in case of power failure. The real time and the date are supported by the battery of the integrated clock.
